West Bengal among top states for ease of doing business: Mukesh Ambani

West Bengal is one of the top Indian states on the “ease of doing business matrix today” said Mukesh Ambani Chairman of  Reliance industries.

 

Reliance's telecom arm,  Reliance Jio Infocomm, he said, had already invested over Rs 5000 crore in the state.

Telangana Makes 21 Changes to Building Rules

Municipal administration and urban development department on Tuesday issued orders making 21 amendments to the Building Rules 2012.

India Inc seeks tax reduction roadmap, sops for start-ups

A roadmap for reduction of the corporate tax rate and elimination of exemptions, early implementation of GST and ease of doing business were some of the key demands put forward by India Inc at the meeting.
 

In Budget 2015-16, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley had proposed reducing the corporate tax rate to 25 per cent from 30 per cent over a four-year period, along with a phase out of exemptions to India Inc.

Ease of doing Business Reform – Filing Cheque bounce Cases simplified

The Negotiable Instruments (Amendment) Bill, 2015 was passed by the Parliament in the recently concluded Winter Session of the Parliament.

 

The Negotiable Instruments (Amendment) Act, 2015 provides for retrospective validation for the new scheme of determining the jurisdiction of a court to try a case under section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881. The Negotiable Instruments (Amendment) Act, 2015 also mandates centralisation of cases against the same drawer.

Dispute Resolution Panel rules in favour of foreign investors, says MAT not applicable

India beats China on GDP growth in '15; may grow 7-7.5% in 2016

Government approves amended TUF scheme, to create 30 lakh jobs

Government today approved an Amended Technology Upgradation Fund Scheme (A-TUFS) in place of the existing Revised Restructured TUFS for technology upgradation of the textiles industry, a move expected to attract investment of Rs 1 lakh crore and create over 30 lakh jobs by 2022.

It will create 30 lakh jobs and attract Rs 1 lakh crore investment into the sector by 2022.

Ease of doing business: Imported foods to take less time to reach your home; govt keen on single-window clearance

The plan under discussion entails scrapping testing of each food consignment and switching to a system of random checks.

 

The new plan will be on the lines of the Accredited Client Programme in customs that allows importers assessed as highly compliant assured facilitation in clearances by the risk-management system. "This could bring down the transaction cost by 1-2%," said Ajay Sahai, director general and CEO of the Federation of Indian Export Organisations.
