Panel Discussion on India awakes: Law, Liberty and LivelihoodA panel discussion titled ‘Law, Liberty & Livelihood’ was held on the first day of Jeevika festival following the screening of a documentary ‘India Awakes’. In this film Cato Institute Senior Fellow Johan Norberg revealed how market liberalization in India is unlocking human potential and lifting millions out of poverty. Panel Discussion on India awakes: Law, Liberty and Livelihood The panel consisted of individuals whose success stories were featured in the documentary: Banwari Lal Sharma -- President of a street vendors association in Jaipur, Rama Bhai Vasava -- a Sagai village leader who champions protection of indigenous people's land rights, and Mannem Madhusudan Rao -- a millionaire who was born into a lower rung of society (Dalit) and relied on his hard work and perseverance to defy societal limitations and succeed as an entrepreneur. Panelists discussed their personal struggles for economic freedom and development, and how they see the way forward for India. The panel discussion was lead by Amit Chandra – Associate Director, Centre for Civil Society and Ambrish Mehta and moderated by Mohit Satyanand.
